The site is a fortress that is located at the north of Lima, and was edified 1000 A.D. under the Chimu ethnicity domination. At the beginning, it was a military edifice; afterwards, it has been adapted to religious use. The central temple, probably dedicated to the sun, stands on 3 enormous and superposed terraces. Between these terraces, there are round paths with rests of rooms. On the walls, there are traces of ancient red and yellow murals in very bad conditions because of the climate and the constant erosion. There is a wonderful view on the grassy valley from the top of the terraces.
